Yoyo Nasty
Cowboy Disco, 2019
Illustrator Yoyo Nasty (@yoyo_nasty) uses humor and playfulness to explore a colourful painting. In this visual world there is a constant presence of nature's vegetation and greenery, lively figures such as dogs and tigers, and the artist's alter ego character; The Cowboy. Which, instead of the traditionally violent macho cowboy, is a queer interpretation with hilarious heels and a cheerful look. Yoyo Nasty is based in Stockholm and recently graduated from Konstfack.
Much of my interest in storytelling began with fairytales and stories I read as a child. I still love to watch cartoons and find a lot of inspiration from it. In this installation, I experiment with spatial storytelling to create a world of my own where these crazy and cute characters can live.
