Stillastormande, 2020
The piece Stillastormande consists of two textile sculptures with flowing, bending forms. In this piece time stands in a three-dimensional still image of two pieces of silk cloth caught in a storm. By using starch as a method to investigate textile materials and their inherent properties in relation to time, wind and space, I captured the movement of the material in a textile illusion of timelessness.
My works are sculpturally, usually within the medium of textile art, and with fortuity as a companion. Irrespective of the material chosen, my goal is to make art that appear to be desultory, natural, organic and soft. That upon a closer inspection might reveal different properties.
