A room can be sensed beyond the grid pattern in the foreground. Further away in the imaginary room, the same pattern is seen. Do we look into a mirror? The seeing oscillates between paying attention to the structure of the paintings surface and the illusion of depth. The eye tries to find coherent
shapes and to build new structures of patterns.
I have used stencils that I have cut out with a laser engraver, in different scales. In this way I was able to work more independently with underpainting and patinating, with spray paint and masking fluid among the tools and materials.
