Deus Ex Machina, 2017
The notion Deus Ex Machina comes from the ancient theatre, where you sometimes had an actor playing a god that would come down on to the stage through some sort of stage device. I often try to combine paintings and drawings in a sculptural setting. The installation has become a way to put everything together, a way of tying everything into one. I like having a word on the tip of my tongue and not knowing how to get it out. I think that’s why I work with the whole ensemble. It's a vicious fight between history and modern design… and I like it.
