Monika Strasser's starting point for her body of work was the assumption that beauty generates social pressure and the fact, that women are still often valued about how the look.
She is wondering if people hunting for beauty end up forgetting about the beauty of life. And asks why we don't see beauty in the natural imperfections and the traces that life gives to us?
Her work investigates the relationship between the female body and the tools used for beautification. Some of the objects represent beauty tools and refer to the process of making of beautification and to its daily rituals like brushing, peeling, putting make up on etc.
